A Japanese baseball pitcher, Yu Darvish earned fame by starring for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and the Japanese national team. He won the Samamura Award in 2007, the Japanese equivalent to the Cy Young Award.
The left-hander threw 100 mph in the World Baseball Classic. His agent says he could be ready for MLB by spring.
