If ever an actor look perfectly cast in a part, it is Tom Welling in the role of a young Superman in Smallville. Tom disappears into the wholesome and conflicted Clark Kent, creating a character so vivid and real that he at both times seems like an ordinary teenager and yet capable of the type of heroism he displays week in and week out.
Tom actually turned down the role of the young Clark Kent twice before accepting it. Like Christopher Reeve, Tom was not a big Superman fan prior to being cast as Clark, and in fact continues not to read Superman comics.
