Carlson has interviewed and eaten with just about every significant newsmaker in American politics, including George W. Bush and John Kerry, and has reported from around the world, most recently Iraq.
A longtime newspaper and magazine writer, he is regular contributor to Esquire. His writings have also appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York magazine, Reader's Digest, Forbes and GQ. He was a finalist for a 2004 National Magazine Award for an Esquire article chronicling his trip to Africa with the Rev. Al Sharpton. His latest book is titled “Politicians, Partisans and Parasites: My Adventures in Cable News.”
