Formed in 1997 in Detroit, The White Stripes are a minimalist rock and roll duo consisting of
Jack White and Meg White. The band hit it big in 2003 with the song "Seven Nation Army" off of their album "Elephant." Other albums include "The White Stripes" (1999), "De Stijl" (2000), "White Blood Cells" (2001) and "Get Behind Me Satan" (2005).
The Detroit garage rock scene is either scoffed at or revered by music lovers. Most of this is due to the overdose of media hype it received in 2001 thanks to The White Stripes blowing up into a worldwide success.
