An English soccer club, Sunderland A.F.C. was founded in 1879. The club won league championships in 1892, 1893, 1895, 1902, 1913 and 1936. Sunderland won the FA Cup in 1937 and 1973. Statistically, Sunderland is the sixth most successful club in English soccer history, although the currently play in the second tier, the League Championship. They are managed by Roy Keane.
