An American rock band, Stone Temple Pilots consisted of Scott Weiland, Dean DeLeo, Eric Kretz and Robert DeLeo. In 1993, they broke out with the hit song "Plush." Other famous songs by the band include "Sex Type Thing", "Wicked Garden", "Creep", "Vasoline", "Interstate Love Song" and "Trippin' On A Hole in a Paper Heart."
Given Scott Weiland's ongoing problems, it's no wonder he and the rest of Stone Temple Pilots don't want to talk to the press prior to their reunion tour. That's a heck of a lot to answer for.

Originally named "Mighty Joe Young" after the 1940's simian film, the name was already in use at the record label. They switched to Stone Temple Pilots after noticing a STP sticker on Scott Weiland's motorcycle.
