A legend in rock and pop music history, Stevie Wonder had his first hit at the age of 13, and went on to become one of the most successful and versatile artists of all time. A musical genius who played the keyboards, harmonica, piano, and drums, Wonder refused to confine himself to any one sound or style and at the age of 21 he was the first Motown Recording artist to gain complete artistic control of his records. Some of Wonder's songs have become standards in the industry, including "You are the Sunshine of My Life," "Isn't She Lovely," and "I Just Called to Say I Love You".
Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, the Temptations and others will be on hand later this month to celebrate Motown's 50th anniversary back home in Detroit.
