Over the course of five years, she sang in in five languages in over twenty different operas including ?La Boheme,? ?Turandot? and ?A Midsummer Night's Dream.? She began her television career as a recurring character on the long running soap opera ?As the World Turns? and went on to guest star on the award winning series ?Law and Order? and ?The Practice.? The astute ear for language and dialect which Emmy had honed at the Metropolitan Opera was utilized in her portrayal of the young Audrey Hepburn, for the ABC original movie ?Audrey,? a performance for which she won critical acclaim.
In January of 2000, at the age of thirteen, Emmy made her big screen debut as the Appalachian orphan Deladis Slocumb in the film ?Songcatcher. ? The film screened in Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. Emmy's performance earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination in the category ?Best Debut Performance.? Recognizing her unique talents, Variety Magazine, named her ?One of the Ten to Watch? in the year 2000.
