Roger Federer Biography

Roger Federer was born on August 8th 1981 in Basel, Switzerland and started playing tennis at age eight. As he compiled outstanding results in the juniors, ending as #1 in the world in 1998. He turned Pro that same year, and was No. 1 in Switzerland in 2001.

Unfortunately, he missed six weeks in 2001 due to a groin injury, yet won his first ATP title in Milan. He continued to progress despite injuries but he was unable to show his full talent..until 2003, when he finally won a Grand Slam title with a stunning victory over Mark Philippoussis, earning at last attention from the public beyond his home country.
