I apologize for the poor sound quality resulting from Youtube's compression. At some point I'll transcribe it all and put captions in. This Q&A took place after a screening of Angel-A (Rie Rasmussen played Angel-A) at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema in New York, May 7, 2007. For some reason I was contacted via email by Sony (the event sponsors) about attending this event and met at the cinema by representatives of Sony. I didn't have to wait in the blocks long line of people wanting to get in (Miraculously, I also got a parking place as close to the front of the theater as you can get (a car pulled out as I pulled up). I was introduced to both of them and then given a reserved seat in the center front row, which is why this video is so close. Don't ask, to this day I don't know why. About: Some of the other films written and directed by Luc Besson are The Fifth Element (he sketched out the plot when he was a teen-ager), La Femme Nikita, Point of No Return, The Professional. About: Rie Rasmussen is a talented director/writer in her on right, and is also a supermodel and the current face of Gucci. About: Jamel Debbouze, who plays the person Angel-A is to save, conceals his hand in his coat throughout. He was hit by a train as a child and his hand was injured, so he conceals it. A man meets a woman in Paris... Down-on-his-luck petty criminal Andre (Jamel Debbouze) has reached the end of his rope. Irreversibly in debt to a local gangster, with no one to turn to, his only solution is to plunge himself into the Seine. Just as he is perched to do so, a fellow bridge-jumper beats him to the water. Diving in, he saves Angela (Rie Rasmussen), a beautiful, statuesque and mysterious woman. As they pull themselves out the water, the two form a bond and venture into the streets of Paris determined to get Andre out of the hole he has found himself in. As Andre will find out, not all debts are financial, and sometimes the solutions to life¹s problems are found in the unlikeliest of places. Is Angela simply repaying Andre for his kindness, or are there other forces at work beyond his comprehension? Publ.Date : Fri, 06 Apr 2007 18:37:21 -0400
