Reggie Bush grew up near San Diego, California to a father who was a campus security officer and a mother who was deputy sheriff and guarded inmates at the county jail. He attended Helix High School, where he excelled at football and track. Reggie's high school schoolmate Alex Smith was also a 2004 Heisman Trophy finalist. This was the first time two students of the same high school had reached the finals in the same year.
