A different kind of teenager, Pink spent several years mingling with the club scene in Philadelphia, singing guest spots and performing for talent shows. Catching the eye of a local Philly DJ at the tender age of 13, Pink was asked to sing back-up for his rap group, Schools Of Thought. Not long after, she was discovered by a record executive and breifly joined the female R&B group Basic Instinct. Not feeling the group love, Pink bowed out of the group and signed herself to LaFace records beginning her solo career. In spring 2000 Pink released her debut, "Can't Take Me Home." She co-wrote many songs and watched it go multi-platinum by the year's end. Her debut included the Top 10 hit "There You Go", which was certified a gold single.
In a group effort, Pink remade the LaBelle classic "Lady Marmalade" along with Mya, Li'l Kim and Christina Aguilera for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack. For her hard work she won 2 MTV Video Music Awards, 2 Vh1 awards, a Radio Music Award, and a Teen Choice.
Pink is an artist who continues to burn brighly in the music world, outshining her contemporary peers, while also gaining notice from the stars wh inspired her from the very beginning. She continues to entertain music lovers with her seductive siren call.
