The first member of the Backstreet Boys to undertake a solo career, blonde good-looking Carter took the chance to exhibit his love of hard rock on Now Or Never, released by Jive Records in October 2002. Working with leading songwriter and producer Max Martin, Carter steered away from the more extreme ends of the rock market, plumping for the safer AOR style of Bryan Adams instead. The results were pleasing although predictably lightweight.
