John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton and Danny Glover joined acclaimed director Roland Emmerich on a massive black carpet which included a demolished Hollywood sign, crashed car, collapsed freeway and Mayan Temple. Season 8 American Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert, who sings an original song on the movie's soundtrack, was also in attendance. The film tells the tale of a man determined to save his life and the lives of his family after an intergalactic event triggers the end of civilization on Earth. "2012" opens across the U.S. on Friday, November 13. The Motion Picture Association of America has rated it PG-13 for intense disaster sequences and some language.
