Baseball was played in Milwaukee before the Brewers got there. When the Braves left for Atlanta for the 1966 season, Bud Selig was determined to get a team back in the Beer City. He came through in 1970, luring the expansion Pilots away from Seattle. While the Brew Crew hasn't played the best ball in its history, it's shown flashes of greatnesses and have sported some wonderful players in Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Cecil Cooper and Don Sutton.
The Brewers started off as an American League team but switched leagues after the 1998 expansion.
