He has starred in popular movies such as Blinkende Lygter, De Grønne Slagtere, Pusher and Pusher II. Arguably Mikkelsens most famous role was his role as a cop in the Danish television series Rejseholdet. He also starred in the Jerry Bruckheimer production of King Arthur in which he portrayed Tristan. He is set to star as the villain Le Chiffre in the upcoming James Bond film, Casino Royale.
