A recent high school graduate from Billings, Montana, Katie will attend Louisiana State University, where she plans to major in advertising and marketing and will also pursue an associate’s degree in fashion design. (Her love of design is no surprise given that this intrepid art lover once traveled to Amsterdam to visit Van Gogh’s museum!) She says her dream job is to one day buy, sell and design clothes for her own company off Madison Avenue in New York City.
“I want to be the hottest new young designer of Fashion Week! I want to have my label on the backs of every fashion icon around; I want it to represent individuality, class and sophistication.”
When she is not planning to run around New York City, Katie can be found running everywhere! At the age of 15 she completed the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘N Roll ½ Marathon in Arizona as a member of Team in Training, an organization to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and she was on her high school’s track team for two years.
Katie loves being a role model to her 17-year-old brother, 11-year-old sister and 15-month old sister and says, “Being the oldest child means setting high standards of behavior, discipline, accomplishment and love for my siblings.” When she can, she shares her love of hiking, water sports, skiing, camping, sketching, working out, and apples (only cold, red ones!) with her siblings.
