Josie Davis Biography

At the early age of three, Josie began her acting career doing numerous commercials. She wasn't even a teenager yet when she auditioned in front of Universal executives eleven times and was cast as a series regular on "Charles in Charge." She played the adorable, intelligent poet "Sarah Powell" opposite Scott Baio. The show was rated number one in syndication and taped for four seasons.

After wrapping "Charles in Charge", the straight-A student graduated from high school and battled the image that she created playing the quiet, sweet, bookish, little girl. She decided to put her goal of entering into USC's writing program aside for a new one. At eighteen, Josie made up her mind she had to focus on acting as an adult and shedding her "Sarah Powell" image. Josie's father -- an actor, artist and drummer -- had her watch the first film produced by Lee Strasberg's highly respected Actors Studio, called "The Strange One." Josie was told one of the men acting in the film had been Strasberg's "right hand man", and was teaching acting in Los Angeles. This man was Paul E. Richards. After studying with him for five years, Richards told Josie her acting was outstanding, and suggested she audition for the Actors Studio. At 24, Josie auditioned for Martin Landau, Mark Rydell, and Shelly Winters and was accepted as a member after only two auditions! Out of hundreds, only one other actor passed into membership that year.

Meanwhile, Josie displayed her acting range and was cast as the sexy, new character on "Beverly Hills 90210." She played "Camille Desmond" through the end of the series. The following season Josie was quickly cast as "Laurie Williams" on "Titans." She took a break from television and was immediately cast in six films. Scheduling only allowed her to shoot four of them. After an endless search, Nicolas Cage cast Josie opposite James Franco as "Gretchen" in "Sonny", with a cast that also included Brenda Blethyn and Harry Dean Stanton. She played "Chloe Carpenter" in "The LA Law" movie. Josie went on to star in "Psychic Murders" alongside Henry Rollins and James Russo. Josie continued to be a part of critically-acclaimed dramas "Philly" with Kim Delaney, an emotional episode of "The Division", a pilot called "The Partners", and "CSI: Miami", opposite David Caruso. On a more comedic note, she was cast opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ed O' Neal in a pilot for ABC called "In the Game". She produced and starred in an award-winning short film called "Lotto".

Recently, Josie continued to explore her comedic side as "Carol Cavanaugh" in the film "Kalamazoo?" co-starring Claire Bloom, Renee Taylor, and Chita Rivera. She also played a comedic character in the film titled "In the Land Of Merry Misfits" with Maria Menunos. After all of that comedy, Josie played "Detective Susan Tyrell" in the drama "Blind Injustice." Josie completed a very special guest star opposite Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer, for their 2005 Christmas Episode. Following that, Josie was cast as the lead for "Sandlot" and "Radio Flyer" director, David Mickey Evans, in "Tranced".
