When Leong was 1/2 month old, her father passed away. After her father's death, her family moved to Macau to earn a living. Leong's family didn't had such a pleasant time, her mother had to work hard to bring both her and her elder sister up. It was a depressing time for their family.

To help her mother support for family, Leong joined in Emperor Entertainment Group at 12 years old , starting her work as a teenager model.

First, she's taken part in singing. Her album debut (Isabella) was released when she was 16 years old. Though being supported a lot but her singing work didn't get such a big success so later, she switched to acting.

Actually beginning her film career with Bug me not ( after Sunshine Heartbeat series TV casting as guest).This film gave her a nomination for Best New Performer in Hong Kong Film Awards.

2006 is a remarkable year for Leong, her big movie, Isabella (the movie's name is also her English name), this film won the Silver Berlin award at Berlin Film Festival for Best Film Music, with Isabella, she got the nomination for Best Actress in Hong Kong Film Awards, especially an award at Fantasporto for Best Actress and an award at Golden Bauhinia Awards for Best New Performer. But the importance is that she received recognition from the public for her potential acting ability in the Chinese community.

In Hong Kong Film Awards 2007, her name is spoken twice, she got 2 nominations, one for Isabella, one for Diary-Best Supporting Actress. She's become popular immensely.

Remaining with art films, acting in lesbian-related movie Spider Lilies. She starred in this film with Taiwanese pop singer actress Rainie Yang. This film was viewed at the Berlin Film Festival and won the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film.

Trying to Follow actor Zhang Ziyi's footsteps, Leong goes to Hollywood and was lucky to land a minor role in acting in the upcoming blockbuster film The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which will be released in 1 August 2008
