Heidi Jo Mueller was born on January 29, 1982 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mueller gained attention when she appeared alongside her father Don Mueller and her siblings on the NBC reality TV series Who Wants to Marry My Dad?. Mueller went on to portray the role of Kay Bennett on the NBC daytime soap opera Passions, and in December of 2004 she became engaged to fellow actor Matthew Lawrence.
