Born on July 21, 1978 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Joshua Daniel Hartnett wasn't looking to acting in his future. As a young boy, he excelled in sports, attended school, and played with friends. He even had a Kool Aid stand when he was 10. But he had a bright future ahead of him.

His college years weren't so good. He attended theater college for eight months before dropping out because he didn't agree with the way school was going. He moved to California and within two weeks, landed a job in the short-lived ABC sitcom Cracker, where he played Michael Fitzgerald. After two episodes, the show was cancelled.

Soon enough, Josh Hartnett landed a movie role in Halloween H20 starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Michelle Williams, and LL Cool J. This earned him an MTV Movie Award Nomination in 1998. He then landed a part in The Faculty, another thriller, where he portrayed Zeke. One of his biggest roles was in The Virgin Suicides with Kirsten Dunst. He then went on to play Danny Walker in the war-time epic Pearl Harbor. This movie made him a star. It was released Memorial Day, 2001.
