In 2001, Hank had one of the best seasons by any minor-league player, hitting .352 with 18 home runs and 108 RBI in 131 games between Charlotte (A) and Tulsa (AA). His average ranked second among all minor-league players. Hank also ranked second in hits (179) and was fifth in RBI. His runs scored (96) and total bases (280) was tops among Rangers minor leaguers. He was named the Rangers' Tom Grieve minor-league player of the year and recognized by Baseball America as the team's top minor league player.
