Oakland Athletics teams in the beginning of the "Moneyball" era. Moving on to the
New York Yankees in 2002 after signing an enormous contract, Giambi continued his excellence in 2002 and 2003, but struggled with medical difficulties and steroid rumors in 2004.
Left-hander Joe Beimel spent two months with the Rockies in 2009 and made 26 appearances, but his brief stay with the club apparently ended Nov. 5. One day after the World Series, the Rockies announced they had agreed to terms with Randy Flores, who like Beimel, is a left-handed reliever.
