Ernest Waddell graduated from New York University's School of Drama. While at NYU he landed a role as a series regular on the HBO series The Wire, and managed to keep up with recurring roles on the drama series Law and Order: SVU and the long-running soap opera As The World Turns.

Waddell appeared in the film Seasons of Youth, with Jesse L. Martin and starred on the series The Bedford Diaries.
