Szmanda's stage credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream and regional productions of Black Box, La Indian Queen and The Bullfight.
He served as a music consultant on the feature film Life as a House. He also has a production company, doop, which combines the worlds of acting and music.
Szmanda was born in Milwaukee and has also lived in Los Angeles.
