An American figure skater, Emily Hughes joined the 2006 Olympic squad after
Michelle Kwan pulled out with an injury. Hughes finished third as the 2006 US Championships.
She popped her first triple lutz Saturday night and under-rotated a triple flip. This was not exactly the way Emily Hughes envisioned her return to the figure skating limelight, but then she pulled herself together and left the ice with a half-smile.
