Born in Vancouver of British parents, the middle of three boys all over 6' 5" tall (Daniel is 6' 8"). He grew up in Squamish B.C. (south of Whistler), playing all sports competitively. He ski raced and snowboarded and appeared in ski and board videos.

Performed a variety of theatre roles in school and local productions, particularly Improv.

Awarded a Football Scholarship to Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania - After breaking his leg in a football game two years into his liberal arts degree, he returned to Vancouver and continued with his acting studies, appearing in commercials and in the background of television shows until his big break by Bryan Singer.
