An actor whose old Hollywood good looks and screen presence caused
Mel Gibson to cast him as Hollywood's biggest leading man in "Paparazzi", Cole Hauser is an edgy actor who can play both the hero and the villian. Like so many talented young actors, Cole appeared in the film "School Ties" in the early 90s, and soon added "Dazed and Confused" and "Higher Learning" to his credits. It would not be until the next decade, however, that Cole would became a well-known actor with his villianous turn in "2 Fast 2 Furious."
The do-it-yourself (and the heck with Hollywood) spirit will prevail this week at the second annual Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, a four-day celebration of filmmaking featuring screenings - and lots of parties - Thursday through next Sunday at nine Northern Liberties venues.
