The custody, visitation rights and child support are at stake. Will they or won't they? Lawyers for CHRISTIE BRINKLEY and PETER COOK met at a hearing this morning in New York Supreme Court to discuss whether or not their divorce trial will be open to the public and the press. Lawyers for news media also had an opportunity to file motions for or against the notion. The hearing is done for the day. Upon exiting the courtroom this morning, Cook said he's "Waiting for a very smart judge to make a decision." When a reporter asked him to respond to "Christie's argument that justice requires this case to be open to the press," he laughed. Exiting after Cook, Christie said to reporters, "I've always hoped to be able to settle these matters privately, outside of the courtroom, and I continue to hope that that will be the case." The model was seen enjoying Saturday evening out in the Hamptons, where she received a special honor from the American Heart Association. Brinkley received the Humanitarian with Heart award at the 12th Annual Heart of the Hamptons Gala for her commitment to helping children live healthier lives. She said she is very honored to receive the award from the AHA since her own mother has suffered five strokes that originated in the heart. Moments after leaving the courthouse, Christie spoke to the press saying she has forgiven Cook's former mistress Diana Bianchi. "After two days of testimony I can't help but think about Diana Bianchi, and I want her and her family to know I feel really bad for them," she said. "I feel bad for her and I forgive her. Today it was really difficult to relive all the horror. I just I feel like it's been a really long day." Meanwhile, Cook did not speak to the media after court. Christie Brinkley and her ex-husband, Peter Cook, finally reached a post-divorce settlement on Tuesday. ET cameras were there as the former couple added insult-to-injury while talking separately to the press outside a New York courthouse. "This is parental interference. I’m not going to put up with it," Cook told reporters about his battle with Brinkley over parental custody arrangements. "This isn't about a stupid girlfriend. It's a mother keeping her child from the father he loves." Cook filed a motion, requesting that Brinkley "undergo anger management, for the appointment of a parenting coordinator, and for the children's passports to be held by a third party." ET has confirmed that Christie Brinkley has reached a settlement in her divorce case with Peter Cook and she will be granted sole custody of the couple's two children. The former supermodel was all smiles as she arrived at the Long Island, NY courthouse this morning to discuss the divorce settlement. "I'm very pleased with the results today," she said at a press conference. "I've won custody and decision making." A statement by Christie's attorney, Robert Cohen, indicates the settlement obligates Christie, 54, to give Peter 2.1 million dollars, but allows her to "individually own all of her real estate properties."
