Shawn Ashmore was born 1 minute after his twin brother Aaron Ashmore in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. He grew up in Alberta, Toronto, and British Columbia. He attended Leo Nickerson Elementary School and started his acting career when his mother became a part of the multiple birth association. The twins started out doing commercials sometimes by themselves, sometimes together. When Shawn was 10 years old he got a acting role on Guitarman (1994) (TV). Ever since then his acting career has skyrocketed. He has a golden retriever, named Jessica, which Shawn got for his 9th birthday. His parents are Rick (a manufacturer manager) and Linda (a homemaker). Shawn plays the guitar and he's fluent in French.
