Jones has been a center fielder for the Atlanta Braves since 1996, winning seven straight Gold Glove Awards. He signed with the Braves organization as a free agent in 1993. Although Andruw has developed into one of the greatest defensive center fielders of all time and an above average offensive player, the general feeling shared by many fans and critics to this point is that Jones has not lived up to the superstar expectations that made the Braves bring him up to the Major Leagues at the age of 19 in 1996. In the 2005 season, as of August 25, Jones is experienced one of his most productive offensive seasons ever. No Brave reached the 40-homer mark quicker than Jones, who got there in the season's 126th game.
